Sally Goddard
(1792 - 1872)
Sally Goddard was one of the charter members of the Providence Ladies Anti-Slavery Society, founded in 1835 (see also Caroline Ashley). Rhode Island women were active in the antebellum abolition movement, publishing anti-slavery pamphlets, hosting lectures by prominent abolitionists, and raising funds for the cause through the sale of handicrafts and other items at their anti-slavery fairs.
