
George Bacheler Peck, Jr.
George Bacheler Peck, Jr. served as Second Lieutenant in Company G, 2nd Rhode Island Infantry, during 1864 and 1865. After the war he became a physician, following in his father's footsteps. His sister was noted scholar and adventurer Annie Smith Peck.

Soldiers and Sailors Civil War Monument erected in 1871 in Exchange Place, now Kennedy Plaza, Providence, R.I. The columned building in back is a federal courthouse, and formerly held the post office as well. A plaque on the building states that in a previous building on that site, Railroad Hall, Abraham Lincoln spoke the night after his famous Cooper Union speech, as he traveled to New Hampshire to visit his son at Phillips Exeter Academy.
